INTRODUCING OUR NEW CHUCKLEBERRY SOUR

INTRODUCING OUR NEW CHUCKLEBERRY SOUR

We're pushing the boat out this summer with the latest in our Shore Leave series. Brimful of berries, our new sour is tart, tangy and tasty, a beer that'll leave you bowled over instead of hungover.

It has possibly been our trickiest beer to brew to date. A classic sour beer is created with wild fermentation, creating really complex tangy flavours. But how to do this in an alcohol-free beer, when we normally keep the yeast tightly controlled to ferment out at less than 0.5% ABV?

Undeterred, we let the lactobacillus go wild with our berries for a couple of weeks, creating a crazy, sherbety mix which we added into the main brew.  Enough wild fermentation to create incredible flavours, but not enough to tip us over the limit. Cheers of jubilation in the brewery when our first gravity readings confirmed we had hit our ABV target.

The result of all Pete's efforts? A beautiful balanced berry-filled beer, that's wonderfully tart and refreshing.

Alcohol-free, gluten-free and vegan.

Oh, and it's pink!
And if you're wondering what a chuckleberry is, it's a hybrid of a gooseberry, redcurrant and jostaberry. Looks like an enormous blackcurrant, tastes amazing. And not a Chuckle Brother in sight...
Pop a six pack in your cart now and see what all the fuss is about.
