Alcohol-free beer on tap - our guide to serving the best non-alcoholic pint

With more venues than ever before serving our beer on tap, we wanted to bring together our top tips to ensure you're always pulling fresh pints of alcohol free beer. If you're here in search of the nearest pub serving our beer, visit our store locator to find your nearest pint.

But why should you be serving alcohol free beer? 76% of UK adults are actively moderating their drinking, and 1 in 5 drinks orders is now a low/no option. On top of this, 37% of UK adults have left an on-trade venue early or been left disappointed as a result of poor low & no options available in the last 3 months. This isn't just bad for customers, it's bad for business!

Quick-fire questions answered

Will I be able to sell a full keg?

We now have several permanent lines pouring a full 30L keg of our beer in 3-5 days. A well-advertised draught alcohol-free beer sells itself, as many drinkers who are looking to cut back are seeking the satisfaction of a pint, allowing for the same experience as a full-strength counterpart. With more people zebra striping and bookending their nights than ever before, pints are the perfect solution to give drinkers the experience they're after.

Will this impact my alcohol sales?

Yes, it'll increase them! A recent study by KAM found that 29% of people actually stay out longer and 24% drink more drinks when there are good alcohol-free options. On top of this, 37% of people leave venues early when the low/no offering isn't good enough. With 76% of UK adults currently moderating, draught alcohol-free is a huge opportunity to give people the choice they want to make, rather than another water and early exit.

Do you need a personal license to serve alcohol-free beer?

A simple answer, no! You do not need a license if you are not serving any alcohol, so all of our kegs and cans are available to a wide audience.

Why does alcohol-free beer cost as much as full-strength?

While there is no beer duty on alcohol-free beer, the vast majority of the brewing process remains the exact same. With the same raw ingredients and materials costs and often higher energy requirements, the savings on duty are quickly covered by the requirement for additional filtration and processing to ensure the beer stays at less than 0.5% ABV.

Can non-alcoholic beer on tap ferment or go bad?

Just like any beer, a poorly treated keg can develop unwanted flavours. Whether from old or unclean lines, dirty couplers or poor storage conditions, there are many challenges to ensuring the first and last pints pour perfectly. All of our beers are filtered and preserved in keg to ensure they leave the brewery in perfect condition. We advise all bars to follow the mnemonic Always Clean Never Bypass Routine found below to ensure that every action is taken to give the beer the best chance to shine.

Does non-alcoholic beer on draught taste different to cans?

We find that our beers can often taste crisper when served on draught. During the kegging process, we use a very intense filter to ensure nothing but beer enters the kegs, as unlike our cans, we can't pasteurise the kegs. This additional filtration step has the bonus of producing incredibly clear beer with that desirable clean flavour profile we love.

Do you manage a bar with a non-alcoholic line? Follow these tips to ensure you keep our beers in their best condition:

ALWAYS clean the line before tapping the keg.

CLEAN the keg & coupler with rinse-free steriliser before tapping.

NEVER follow straight on from another beer.

BYPASS or carry out additional cleans on hard-to-reach areas, e.g. fob detectors.

ROUTINEly inspect gas lines and clean or change as required.
