Full on Fringe without the hangover: Our Edinburgh guide for the festival

Whether you're after a cold pint of alcohol-free beer in a traditional Scottish pub or a boozeless cocktail with views over the city, we've found the Edinburgh Fringe venues with the best non-alcoholic options.

Bars, restaurants and venues

Makars Gourmet Mash Bar

Haggis, check. Neeps, check, Tatties, check. World class alcohol-free beer, check. If you're visiting Scotland for the first time and looking to sample both Scotland's national dish and best alcohol-free beer the country has to offer - look no further.

Doctors

Had a big day in Bristo Square? Don't fear, just a few steps away is Doctors, aptly named given the links to the medical colleges and the relics from the city's gothic past.

Stramash

How often do you find yourself in an enormous converted church with an incredible bar and acts throughout the fringe? Finish your night right with live music just off of Cowgate.

Three Sisters

An infamous hub of bars, events spaces and courtyard set in an old brewery, smack bang in the middle of the Old Town and at the heart of the Fringe. Perfect for a mid-day catch-up drink or to pull an all-nighter.

Bonnie and Wild

Above the hubbub and noise of the festival sits this emporium of Scottish food and drink. A marketplace full of the best chefs from across the country with a bar to match. Grab a bite and a can before descending back into the chaos of the festival.

The Stand Comedy Club

The Stand Comedy Club and the Edinburgh Fringe are almost inseparable. The first dedicated comedy club in Scotland has been operating since 1998, providing a venue for rising stars of the Scottish scene. If you're lucky enough to perform here, you may even find some Jump Ship in the green room.

Abbotsford

Traditional Scottish bars don't come much better than this. With a curved mahogany bar and traditional Edwardian stylings, pop your head in the door and be transported to the Jacobean era.

The Johnnie Walker Experience

I say Scotland, you say Whisky. Not many places claim to have the best view in the city and can back it up like the Johnnie Walker Experience. Learn about the history of this truly Scottish spirit before taking a seat in the 1820 bar with a panoramic view looking across to the castle, with a 0.0 martini or Jump Ship beer in hand.

Roseleaf Cafe

You're in for a treat with this cosy cafe bar away from the crowds with the most incredible brunches and drinks just around the corner from the Port of Leith. Whether spending the morning pottering around the city or looking for somewhere to pop into after a busy day you've found just the spot.

The Granary

Smack bang in the middle of the Shore in Leith, The Granary is the perfect lunchtime option for fish and chips, Sunday Roasts and a bit of people watching.

Lost in Leith

Is it something a little crafty you're looking for? Lost in Leith is Campervan Brewery's bar and fermentaria. What does that mean? You'll be enjoying your drinks amidst three enormous foeders full of actively fermenting beer. Grab a can from the fridge and take a seat to soak up the evening at this popular watering hole.

Nauticus

Date night sorted. Nauticus is a hidden gem across the road from Leith Links. As champions of Scottish produce, expect to be blown away by the drinks offering and the charm of the place.

Bottleshops

Leith Bottleshop

If you're one of the many who have decided to get out of the city centre and down to Leith's waterfront, then you'll want to pick up some cans to soak up the sun and relax at one of the city's most recent additions.

Cornelius

Something of an institution in the city, Cornelius now operates two stores across the north of the city, one on Easter Road, the other on Leith Walk. Whether you're heading up Calton Hill or exploring some more of the New Town, they are well worth a visit.

Cork & Cask

After a busy morning of shows, you may find yourself in need of the green pastures of the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links. Only a few minutes walk away is the excellent Cork & Cask - stocking a wide range of options including the whole Jump Ship range. Perfection!

Vino

Sprinkled across the city you will find the excellent stalwarts of Edinburgh's independent drinks trade - Vino. With Jump Ship beers and a host of other options in store in the New Town and Stockbridge.

With so many incredible options across the entire city, you are spoiled for choice when it comes to an Edinburgh Fringe without the booze. If you're not drinking entirely or just looking for something different this year, this year's alcohol-free offering has got to be the best yet!
